Cattle weights trimmed in the latest week. Hog weights expand.

The weekly Actual Slaughter report detailed meat production statistics for the last week of September.

Dressed steer weights fell -7 lbs. from the prior week to now 941. Dressed heifers were +5 lbs. to 857. Compared with last year steer weights were trimmed from +30 lbs. to now +21. Heifers did the opposite with a gain vs. last year moving from +20 lbs. to now +25.

Cattle weights were +3.0% year/year in the prior week. Due to the heifer weight change they lightly slipped to +2.5%.

Dressed barrow/gilt weights were +1 lb. from the prior week, now 211 lbs. Compared with last year they increased from +3 lbs. to +4.

Hog weights rose from +1.4% year over year to +1.9%.
