The weekly Actual Slaughter report detailed meat production statistics for the first week of October.
Dressed steer weights rose sharply from last week's dip, +9 lbs. to now 950. Dressed heifers were unchanged from the prior week's 857. Compared with last year steer weights increased from +21 lbs. to now +28. Heifers slipped from +25 lbs. to now +20.
Cattle weights were +2.5% year/year in the prior week. They are now +2.8%.
Dressed barrow/gilt weights were unchanged from the prior week, now 211 lbs. Compared with last year, as this is a time of seasonal increases, they fell from +4 lbs. to now +3.
Hog weights fell from +1.9% year over year to +1.4%.
